John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars comes out today! Up until now it’s been my most anticipated read for 2012. Now that it’s out I’m looking ahead to other great books I’m dying to read in 2012.
There is No Dog by Meg Rosoff, January 24th
I love all of Rosoff’s books (How I Live Now, The Bride’s Farewell.) Her style is lyrical and her books are always fresh and exciting. Her latest about God or Bob living on Earth in the body of a 17 year-old sounds too fun and too amazing to miss. Bob is watched over by an Alfred-like assistant who tries to keep the partying and natural disaster making under control.
I was stunned by Finnikin of the Rock. I knew Marchetta from her other work like Jellicoe Road and Saving Francesca and was already a devoted fan. But the world of Lumatere is an incredible place, dangerous, magical and heartbreaking real. Froi of the Exiles picks up the story three years after the events of Finnikin and I fully expect to be just as amazed all over again. This is a great series for fan waiting for The Hobbit movie this December (something else I’m eagerly awaiting!)
Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore, May 1st
May 1st is so far away to wait for the last book in Cashore’s Graceling series. The first two books were filled with incredible levels of fantasy, action and girls who knew how to kick butt. Just a few of my favorite things. Bitterblue had a small part in Fire but now will have the rest of her story told. I have no doubt that this will be a hot title this summer.
