NPM 2011 – Spine Label Poetry

admin    April 6, 2011

One of my favorite types of poetry to create is found poetry, using objects and random words in your environment to make poetry.  A spine label poem is a fun and colorful way to see poetry wherever you look.  Here’s one I made out of some poetry books we have at WNPL.

Paint me like I am
dizzy in your eyes.
Tell the world
the rose that grew from concrete,
I am Phoenix,
my own true name.

Come with me,
just us two
looking for your name.
Freedom like sunlight,
city I love,
volcano wakes up!
Worlds afire!

Time you let me in.
