Teen Read Week – 2010 Teens’ Top Ten

admin    October 19, 2010

Votes have been counted and YALSA announced the 2010 Teens’ Top Ten yesterday.

  1. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
  2. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
  3. Heist Society by Ally Carter
  4. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
  5. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
  6. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
  7. Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
  8. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
  9. Fire by Kristin Cashore
  10. Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

I read 7 of the 10 Top.  My favorite (besides Catching Fire obviously) was probably Heist Society.  I loved the mix of intrigue, art history, exotic locations and a good caper.

Here’s the break down from our own WNPL voting.

  1. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
  2. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
  3. Heist Society by Ally Carter
  4. The Roar by Emma Clayton
  5. Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
  6. Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
  7. Fire by Kristin Cashore
  8. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
  9. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
  10. Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Interesting results, no?  I like our list more, mostly because I’ve read more of these books. Thanks everyone for voting and of course for reading!

Remember all this week when you visit the library, stop by the Youth Reference Desk and you can pick up one free book each day.  Hurry while supplies last! (I always wanted to say that!  But seriously, we have FREE books.  Stop by and say hi.)

I voted for Catching Fire a whole lot… I love that book. But I thought Fire would be closer to the top. That’s my second favorite of the list. 😀
