Just finished a great book, Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. I read it because I saw an interview with Director Rob Reiner in the newspaper that said he is making a movie of the book because he read the book with his son and loved it so much. He was right. The story is told by a boy and girl who are nearing the end of junior high and tells about how they met when they were 7 years old as new neighbors. They take turns telling the reader about various encounters they’ve had over the years. As they both grew and matured their relationship with each other changed and also their relationships with friends and family. It is partly a love story but it is so much more. It is about prejudice, right and wrong, being your own person, and bucking the crowd. I can’t wait to see the movie.
