Susan Beth Pfeffer has done it again. In two previous novels, she showed how life was affected in the city (in The Dead and the Gone) and in the country (in Life As We Knew It) when an asteroid hits the moon and causes severe weather patterns which bring death and destruction to both locales. In her new book, This World We Live In she brings together Alex from the first novel and Miranda from the second. Not only do Alex and Miranda fall in love, but also their younger siblings Julie and John find comfort in each others’ company during the difficult times they face. Just when you think that the weather is settling down and life is going to go back to normal, Pfeffer throws in some exciting new developments to keep everyone interested. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next installment in the Last Survivors series.
