NPM 2010 – Spine Label Poetry

admin    April 9, 2010

I made a poem called “My Heart is Like a Zoo” by using picture book titles (they’re very colorful) and lining up the spines.  Like the Newspaper Blackout poetry, Spine Label Poetry is a form of found poetry.  Found poetry is using words, phrases and titles from other sources to create poems.  I love working with found poetry.  It’s fun and let’s me be creative and imaginative.

My heart is like a zoo
planting a rainbow,
lawn to lawn,
down by the cool of the pool.

One rainy day
a tree is growing,
anything but typical,
plants without seeds,
 a mirror to nature,
all the world.

Are you ready for summer?
