November has been a big month for YA-books-turned-movie, what with Ender’s Game debuting on the first this month, The Book Thief’s release last week, and Catching Fire due to release on November 22nd. We thought it fitting to shed some light on a few great YA titles that are going to be coming to a theater near you sooner than you think. I know, I know- the books are always better than the movies, right? Well now you can read ahead of time and find out for yourself.
Release Date: January 17th, 2014
The Seventh Son is a composite of The Last Apprentice series’ first and second books (Revenge of the Witch and Curse of the Bane) by Joseph Delaney. Both books (and the movie) center on Thomas Ward, born the seventh son of the seventh son, who is apprenticed to the local Spook, Gregory, to learn to fight evil spirits and defend the country from the growing threats of witches. A little bit supernatural, a little 18th century adventure, this book series has been cited as “anything but tame” and “tantalizingly creepy” by Publisher’s Weekly.
