The Diviners by Libba Bray

admin    January 16, 2013

I love absolutely everything about this book. I’m a sucker for the Roaring 20s anyway – add in the occult, a whisper of a love story, flappers, prohibition, Manhattan, and an AMAZINGLY creepy ghost story – you’ve got a book tailor made for me (and maybe you too).

Bray did a wonderful job creating this world, and it’s very easy to get sucked into it. I didn’t realize that this was the first in a series, but I’m completely hooked.

“Naughty John, Naughty John, does his work with his apron on. Cuts your throat and takes your bones, sells ’em off for a coupla stones.”

Read this one with the lights on.
